Pie bar

Had to jump on to post this picture. When I wrote “Meet me at the pie bar…” I couldn’t find a picture of an old automat, which was the kernel of the pie bar idea. Only mine would be cozier and more modern.

But Paul Krugman’ ‘s Substack today had a picture of one for any of you unfamiliar with the concept of automat.

Sorry, I don’t have a source for the photo besides Krugman.

    Ok, I had to go back and reread the first pie bar post. This looks like the automated food places they had in the 50s….or the food machine at my work place circa 1980s. You could buy red pickled eggs in it. Weird selection but yummy.

    That’s it! I ask other people if they know what an automat is and they say no. When I saw the picture, I had to grab it. : )
